**************** ABOUT US ****************

                                        MISSION STATEMENT

The ALLGAMBIAN.NET online newspaper, consists of dedicated, principled and
determined Gambians, interested in promoting press freedom, democracy, the
rule of law, human rights and good governance in The Gambia, the African
continent and beyond.

In view of the deteriorating and appalling human rights and media situation
in The Gambia, we decided to team up to complement efforts already made by
our colleagues in the tiny West African country and elsewhere to expose any
kind of injustices, tyranny and dictatorship on the continent.

As an independent media institution, we are here to report the truth at all
times, without fear or favor. We will also keep our readers posted about
political, economic and other developmental stories unfolding on the African
continent. Our quest is to provide you with authoritative, reliable,
comprehensive and up to date news items on a regular bases. We want to
ensure that the ALLGAMBIAN will continue to serve as a reliable source of
information.

The ALLGAMBIAN, will also continue to serve as "voice for the voiceless" and
will never shirk its responsibility in upholding the basic principles of the
journalism profession. That we will give coverage to all shades of society,
without any censorship or discrimination.

It's our contention that a nation without a free society is not qualified to
be rated as a democratic state and this is exactly what's happening in
today's Gambia. Our God given freedoms and liberties had been seized by
dictator Yahya Jammeh with impunity.

As a media set up, we will put our lives on the line to continue to serve as
a watch dog for our dear country and its impoverished people. We believe
that freedom is a costly asset and it's never earned over night. We will do
whatever it takes to fight for freedom, equal rights and justice in The
Gambia.

Though, we are away from home, but we will continue to contribute our
journalistic duty. We are still in contact with our reliable sources on the
ground, who assured us their unflinching support in making us realized our
dream for a just and democratic Gambia.

To our sources, we're here to assure you your full protection. We will treat
any information given to us with high degree of confidentiality and
responsibility. We valued our sources and readers. We believe that our
success as a news medium, squarely depends in your hands and we therefore
seek your support.

As part of our mission statement, ALLGAMBIAN will also publish an uncensored
opinion column for readers interested in airing their views. All these are
geared towards empowering the people, whose freedoms are seized today in The
Gambia. However, we will be quick to point out that such views does not
represent the position of ALLGAMBIAN in anyway.

We are also challenging Gambian journalists, residing at home and abroad to
come on board and help us realize our objectives. ALLGAMBIAN will be more
than happy to receive news stories from your end. Together, we can make a
difference in the global quest to maintain democracy, rule of law and good
governance on the African continent.

We don't care to be called names -but we will never give up in our mission
to expose the truth. The ALLGAMBIAN will not be intimidated by Yahya
Jammeh's bully tactics against citizens. We will live by the truth and will
die by the truth. No amount of threats will shake us. Therefore enemies of
freedom should take note of our unshakable stance towards the truth.

We loved and cared for our country. We cannot watch idly to allow few greedy
individuals or so called politicians to wreck The Gambia. As indicated time
and time, we are determined in making Yahya Jammeh and his government
accountable to Gambians. We will be constantly monitoring the activities of
this regime and report our findings to our esteemed readers. It's up to our
readers to make informed decisions or judgments about what we report.

The ALLGAMBIAN will also try to network with other major media institutions
on the continent and other parts of the world. As mentioned earlier, we are
here to compliment the good efforts of our colleagues in keeping the
continent posted about political developments and other stories of interest
to our people. Our presence on the media revolution should therefore be
welcomed by all freedom lovers across the globe.

As Gambians are preparing to go to the polls in 2006, The ALLGAMBIAN intends
to do an extensive coverage of the said elections. We will endeavor to talk
to all contenders in this coming race -be it the Ruling APRC or NADD. We do
know that this government had a bad record, when it comes talking to the
private media. It shut all its doors to the private press. But this should
not stop us from carrying out our journalistic work. As far as we are
concerned here at ALLGAMBIAN, "no reaction" is a story and it will confirm
our objectivity as journalists. We will not take sides in our reportage of
events. We owe no obligation to any interest group(s). We are an independent
media body, interested in pursuing the truth and justice.

However, it's imperative to note that our editorial stance on issues will
remain unchanged. People are free to make their personal interpretations
about what we write. There is a fire wall erected to jealously guard our
editorial Independence. Editors and reporters working with this news medium
will be given free hands to carry out their work without any form of
interference

The ALLGAMBIAN is here to stay. The struggle for free and democratic Gambia
continues. We salute our fellow Gambians and friends of The Gambia. We once
again, count on your support and cooperation. We are praying for God's
protection.
