In a desperate and erratic tone, Jammeh accuses the
people of Brikama Bojang kunda of being two faced
liars, and he went further to say that he has ordered
his soldiers to shoot and kill any perceived
opposition supporters walking about with machettes and
cut-lasses.
These are desperate times for Jammeh, but he continues
to exude confidence in the fact he has in
collaboration with the IEC, secretly issued about
Twenty to twenty-five thousand voters cards to
refugees from the Cassamance who will turn out on the
18th to cast their vote for him. Such a number is
bound to make a difference in an electorate like the
Gambias.
The opposition is rightly confident of the support of
the great majority of Gambians, but failing to factor
in this illegal issue of voters cards will bring them
great disappointment on the day of reckoning.
Whatever the level of confidence that the opposition
may have, they must realise that come Friday the 20th
of October, Jammeh will not raise his hands up to say,
OK folks, I have lost and congrats to the winner. He
will play every trick in the books to maintain his
grip on power, and no amount of legal challenge
thereafter will make him relinquish it. The combined
opposition have a political problem on their hands,
and they must use all means possible to ensure the
will of the Gambian people prevail. Even if it means
ordering their supporters on to the street to chase
out this evil blot on the Gambian landscape.God help
our country.
