Dampha,

I don’t know what your strategy is by the personal attacks of late. If you
believe that I will follow you in that direction then you are yet to know
me. If you have no respect for yourself, I have a lot of respect for those
who are urging me not to mind you and for myself. If it is meant to anger me
to the point where I may be de-listed for over reacting, then you may have
to go up another gear. I am staying on for as long as I have the energy,
access and time.

I now know who some of the genuine members of the opposition who while
opposed to my support of this government have expressed admiration for my
courage and admiration. It has given me a lot of pleasure to receive private
emails from such people even though we are in different camps. To this
people, I say thank you. Even if these people had not intervened, my
upbringing would not have allowed me to follow you to the sewers. It is said
that, “courage is not the absence of fear, but being afraid and yet moving
on”. I am sure no person in his or her right faculties will call a lunatic
roaming the darkest corners of the land and playing with snakes, a man of
courage.

One thing I would like you to clarify though, before I move on to issues of
relevance to my country and me is, whether you are the same Dampha, who in
the early 80s got fired from the central bank after it was discovered that
the certificates he used to get employed as an economist were fake. Or was
it your brother? If the answer to both is in the negative, then I apologise
to that Dampha, his family and friends. On that note I am closing this
chapter.

Have a good day, Gassa.
