***************************************************************************

This message is at the bottom of almost every mail sent to Gambia-l but
members continue sending subscription requests to Gambia-l. For your
information, the list managers have decided to ignore all subscription requests
sent through list.

Here is what you should do if you know someone who wants to be subscribed
to the list or you want unsubscribe / change your subscription settings:

1. Tell the person to go to the following URL:
http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html

2. On this page there is a link there called "Join or leave the list, or change your
list settings".

This screen allows you to join or leave the GAMBIA-L list. To confirm your
identity and prevent third parties from subscribing you to the list against your
will, an e-mail message with a confirmation code will be sent to the address
you specify in the form. Simply wait for this message to arrive, then follow the
instructions to confirm the operation.

Here the person should write the e-mail address and his/her name and press on
the correct button ("join the list" or "leave the list").

NOTE: This operation can only be done by the person who wants to subscribe
or unsubscribe and cannot be done by a third person because a confirmation
code will be sent to the e-mail address entered.

3. The subscription requests are automatically received by the list
Manager(s/esses) and one of them will add the person.

Please do not try to add a new member because it is only list the
Manager(s/esses) or the person him/herself who can.

4. If you are already subscribed to the list and wants to change your
subscription options. You will need to have a LISTSERV password first before
you can make any changes to your subscription options. The choice of
password is yours.

5. The login screen looks like this:

Login required
The function you have requested requires authentication. Please enter your e-
mail address and your LISTSERV password (not the password you use to login
to your computer or read your mail), and click on the "Login" button. If this is
the first time you see this dialog, or if you have forgotten your password, you
will need to get a new LISTSERV password first.

6. The screen for registering your password looks like this:

Registering your LISTSERV password
Please enter your e-mail address and the desired password, then click on the
"Register password" button. If you already had a LISTSERV password, but
cannot remember what it was, this procedure will automatically replace your
existing password with the new one you will be entering below.

7. After having a password, one is able to reply or send messages to list from
any computer through the web-interface at:
http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html

8. Alternatively, you could send your requests to:
[log in to unmask] and the message will be received by
all the Manager(s/esses).
The list Manager(s/esses) are: Sarian Loum, Momodou Camara, Dr. Amadou
S. Janneh, Dr. Katim Touray, Anthony Loum, Dr. Malanding S. Jaiteh, Awa Sey
and Soffie Ceesay.
