possibly religious lessons to learn from Mr. Ambassador's faux
pas...yet we ask - what happened to "love is blind?"

Enjoy!

Bearded wife gets the boot in Dubai
Feb 10, 2010 at 15:38

Arab ambassador in Dubai annuls marriage after discovering his new
wife is cross-eyed, has beard -paper.

DUBAI - An Arab ambassador in Dubai has had his marriage annulled
after discovering his new wife is cross-eyed and has a beard, Gulf
News reported on Wednesday, citing sources close to the case.

The ambassador, who was not named, petitioned a court in the emirate
for a divorce and compensation of 500,000 dirhams ($136,202) for money
spend on gifts, the UAE daily reported.

The man only found out about his wife’s appearance after the couple
had signed a marriage contract and the husband wanted to kiss his
spouse, the newspaper said.

The woman, a Gulf national, had worn a niqab each time they had met, it added.

"Every time the couple met, the bride would do her best not to reveal
her entire face,” the source was quoted as saying.

“He claimed to the sharia court officials that when he wanted to kiss
his wife-to-be, he discovered that she was bearded and cross-eyed as
well.”

The man accused his wife’s mother of deception by showing his mother a
picture of the wife’s sister, the paper said.

The court divorced the couple, but rejected the plaintiff’s
compensation claim, the paper added.
