It is with a sense of profound humility that I inform you all that by the Grace of God, I have just graduated with a PhD in History (Africa) from the University of California, Davis. While it is impossible to list everyone, I thank all who, in various ways, have been so kind and helpful over the past several years. I am especially grateful to my big brothers and mentors Professors Abdoulaye Saine, Sulayman Nyang, and Mbye Cham.  various ways in which you all have been so kind and helpful over the past five years.

I also wish to take this opportunity to thank our great list managers - past and present - of the Gambia Post and Gambia L for making it possible for all of us to interact as we have over the past several years.
