Dr. Jeng, from what i learned i history, Banjul used to be called ''Bang Julo''  which is a mandinka word because it used to have lots of bamboos which they used to make mats  ''baa sang'' in wollof.

people would say lets go to ''Bang Julo'' meaning to go where you have lots of Bamboos.
