APRC Accused Of Dishing Out Money

The APRC campaign team that has left Sanjal constituency last week has been
accused of dishing out money to villagers in the area particularly those
said to be close to the opposition NRP.

Our sources indicated that the president gave up to D20,000 to the village
of Dibba kunda; adding that similar promises were made in other villages in
an attempt to get them switch allegiance and vote for APRC in the October 18
polls. Speaking in Dibba kunda and Ngayen Sanjal, the NRP leader, Hamat Bah,
said that the APRC campaign team was dishing out money when the government
could not even buy farmers’ nuts.

He warned them of Jammeh’s utterances that the people of the area are like
chickens that one can easily get by throwing grains to. He noted that,
should they allow themselves to be bought in this way, they would live to
regret it. The NRP leader who accused Jammeh of betraying the people, noted
that he (Jammeh) once vowed that let Allah betray him if he had bad
intentions for the country. And thus, he said, “God has now betrayed him by
ending his rule and come October, he would leave this country.

According to the NRP leader, who is confident of an 80 percent victory, the
people want him to lead and salvage the country. He went further to urge the
people to vote massively in order to end their enslavement, untold misery
and hardship brought about by the Jammeh regime. Sheikh Ceesay who said that
seven years of suffering is enough, argued that their former chief, Matarr
Gaye’s sacking was unjustified.

He accused the present chief of meddling in the daily lives of the people of
Sanjal and hence advised that they must never allow anybody to divide them.
He also told the people to take all the monies given to them and in return
“never ever” vote for the APRC. He noted that the tide that swept Nino in
Bissau, Abdou Joof in Senegal and Robert Gaye in Ivory Coast would
undoubtedly not spare Yahya Jammeh.

Borry Bah who spoke strongly in the rally blamed the APRC for the country’s
huge debts, and the disintegration of society, tradition and culture. He
warned that if Jammeh should continue to lead the country in the next five
years, he (Jammeh) would end up selling the entire country.
