Bah Warns Against Tribal Politics

The leader of the National Reconciliation Party, Hamat Bah, warned the
people of Jarumeh Koto to shun politics of tribalism and tribal sentiments.
He noted that there were different ethnic groups in the Gambia who have been
living together for a long time and that the country belongs to all of them.

He advised them to welcome all the five political parties in the country,
adding that his party and the UDP coalition had a common vision which is to
flush out Jammeh and APRC.

According to Bah, the electorate didn’t want to vote out Jammeh because he
is a Jola but because of his malgovernance which has inflicted poverty and
hardship on farmers. He further said that farmers were Jammeh’s enemies as
the government had continuously failed to fulfill its promises to the
farmers. However, Bah outlined that an NRP government would introduce
grassroots development noting that they (rural dwellers) know their own
problems.

Saikou Kebbeh from the village revealed that forty eight people revoked
their allegiance to the APRC and joined the NRP. He implored the NRP leader
to shed more light on their rights and the activities of government in his
speeches.

In Sami Pachonki the NRP leader vowed that if voted into office on October
18, he would not disappoint them. He revealed that power did not rule but
intelligence and wisdom, noting that Jammeh and cohorts, who were soldiers
lack sympathy for the Gambian people, would migrate if nothing changes.

He further accused Jammeh of urban biaseness, adding that an NRP government
would give the rural settlers their fair share. He promised to rebuild the
village of Sami Pachonki.
