Bamba Laye,

Accept my apologies, but I believe I have not communicated to be fully
understood when I wrote "To: All PDOIS Supporters in the L". The message is
very vague. I really do not know all the PDOIS supporters out there. What I
know is that some PDOIS supporters have communicated to me to try to
discourage me from addressing certain issues they deem to be in a better
position to handle.

Our Central Committee, however, finds the feedbacks we are receiving to be
most useful in knowing the public mind both here and abroad. To avoid the
debate from being focussed on what PDOIS is doing rather than on what
Gambians should do, I made the remark that others who are not supporters of
PDOIS should be allowed to reflect on the issues raised.

We all want The Gambia to develop. The circumstances which prevail either
enhance or hinder the development of the country. Since we have different
opinions on how to develop the country, the best environment for all of us
is one which will make it conducive for the people to select their own
representatives. It is this environment that we are trying to create. The
focus of the debate should be on the strategies and tactics that are
necessary to be able to create such an environment.

I hope you understand that my intention was not to stop any PDOIS supporter
from engaging in a debate with me; rather I was trying to pre-empt any
attack on Ebou Jallow to bar him from continuing to express his opinions on
our positions.

Keep up the spirit. The Gambian people are sovereign. No one has a right to
be their leader or representative. Each has a duty to be their servant, that
is, if they want anyone to serve them. If I display any egoistic tendency,
it is your duty to smash it to atoms. Who is whose master, after all?

Greetings.

Halifa Sallah.
