Subject: [MCK] May 12: Zaytuna Program in Atlanta (Register FAST)
To: [log in to unmask]

Salam,

I wanted to inform everyone about a program taking place in Atlanta in two
weeks (Saturday, May 12). It is a one-day program being hosted by Zaytuna
Institute.

Imam Zaid Shakir and Yahya Rhodus will be teaching about lessons from the
life of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. You can find out more about
the teachers at this link: http://www.zaytuna.org/teachers.asp

Space is limited; register online soon to secure a spot. I know some from
our community are already planning to drive down insha Allah (it's a short
drive). Perhaps we can go to Six Flags in Atlanta the day before or after
the event.

Read more below and let me know if you plan on attending so we can
coordinate a group trip. Read below for the details on the program.

Salam,
Tarek El-Messidi

ZAYTUNA INSTITUTE PRESENTS

Zaytuna Minara Program

GIFTS OF THE PROPHET
Lessons from the Life and Character of the Beloved
Messenger (upon him be peace)

A day-long intensive workshop taught by
IMAM ZAID SHAKIR
USTADH YAHYA RHODUS
Atlanta, Georgia
May 12th, 2007

ZAYTUNA MINARA PROGRAM

Zaytuna's Minara programs are intensive weekend
workshops offered for the many Muslims who are
searching for sacred knowledge while grappling with
the arduous scheduling demands of the modern world.
Aimed at bringing high-quality Islamic education to
people in their communities in a convenient yet
powerful format, this program provides a concentrated
educational offering which includes practical,
relevant knowledge for students to apply in their
daily efforts to better themselves and strengthen
their connection to the Islamic tradition. For more
information on Zaytuna's Minara program, click here.

GIFTS OF THE PROPHET

The knowledge and teachings handed down in the Islamic
tradition are bountiful. Yet it is in the life and
character of the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace,
that we find perhaps our most practical and inspiring
wisdom for Muslims to apply in their daily life and
practice. This workshop program focuses on the
profound lessons we can take from the life and
character of the Prophet, upon him be peace, and the
importance of truly knowing him and embodying his
noble example. Drawing largely from the text
al-Nafahat al-'Itriyya min Sirat Khair al-Bariyya
("Fragrant Breezes from the Life of the Best of
Creation") by the renowned hadith scholar Shaykh
Nuruddin 'Itar, program sessions will alternate
between reflections upon key moments in the story of
his blessed life (sirah) - his bearing hardships, his
strategic wisdom, and his remarkable success - and
vivid descriptions of his outward and inward
characteristics (shamail) - his physical stature and
mannerisms, his courage and compassion, and his
humility and devotion to his Lord. Our hope is that
attendees gain a deeper familiarity with and
appreciation of the Prophet, upon him be peace, and
how the gifts of his brilliant example can serve us in
our efforts toward self-refinement and spiritual
fulfillment.

"This is probably the most enlightening conference I
