G-L Community:

Does anyone have additional information on how Secretaty-General Annan's
visit to The Gambia went?

I was informed that the Secretary-General was handed the petitions on
arrival in Banjul by the UNDP REP. At his press conference, Annan
called upon Jammeh and his Government to take legal action against those
responsible for the Massacre of April 10 & 11 and that the UN will be
watching events as they unfold.

It appears that the petitions that were sent by members of the G-L have
had a positive effect. We must keep the pressure on with the letters
and scheduled demonstrations in New York tomorrow, Washington D.C., in
May, and other venues. Thanks.
