Lamin,
This is the kind of analysis the opposition should be doing instead of pointing fingers to one another about who did what in the election. I am particularly disturbed by recent reports of Waa's reaction to Darboe conceding to Jammeh. I am also very disturbed by reports of an NCP stalwart being made to defend Dibba's choice to run on NCP ticket. No wonder radio Kangkang is busy about which opposition will be what in the next Jammeh cabinet .

I hope they the opposition realize that this is not the time to point fingers at each other. This is the time to put in place what PDOIS called tactical alliance. If Thursday's election results is to be meaningful, the 47% who did not vote for Yahya must be represented in the National Assembly. Knowing how the electoral system in the Gambia works, the opposition would need a miracle to capture 47% of the seats!

The UDP leadership must understand that harassment and intimidation of their ranks and files is meant to prevent them from organizing before Febrauary. Afterall that strategy worked very well between 1996 and 2000. Mr Darboe and his team's immediate focus should be to meet leaders of NCP, NRP and PDOIS to get this alliance going. The strategy must be to elect a few but effective National Assembly members even if that means 1 per opposition party. For the last thing Gambia needs is a National Assembly without an opposition. I am sure it is no secret that an APRC government would be much happier without the likes of Hamat Bah and Sidia Jatta in the National Assembly. As a result they would do every thing necessary to get them out come February.

In the same vein the other parties should realize that rumours about cabinet positions for Bah, Dibba and Jatta are baites, not for the leaders but their followers come February. An average Bah supporter for instance will be more likely to vote for APRC if he is told that its a matter of time before Bah takes up a cabinet position in the next Jammeh administration. And that they the voters in those constituencies would be comitting political suicide to vote against Yahya for it is just a matter of time before Bah, Jatta and Dibba take up a position in the next Jammeh cabinet.

Tombong, Please add up the results opposition parties have in the constituencies I've mentioned and compare that with APRC's. APRC was outnumbered in most places or the race too tight.

I bet if a united opposition confront APRC in the National Assembly elections, they(APRC) will have fewer than 10 seats.
