Hi folks,

I'm writing to say a BIG "Thank you" to all of you for your support, kind words,
and prayers on the passing away of my Dad last month. On behalf of our family,
I would like to express my sincere appreciation of the phone calls and e-mails
sent to express sympathies and prayers.

I should also say that I tried writing privately to all who sent e-mail to me,
but might have missed a few, because I had to restore my hard disk and while
back, and lost some messages. Please pardon me if I failed to respond directly
to your e-mail.

I would also like to send my heartfelt condolences to all that have lost their
loved ones, and family members in the last few weeks. The news of the tragic
accident in which Kutubo Manneh, his wife Aminata, and others were involved was
devastating. Such is life that just when you think your lot is the worst you
hear and/or see something that shocks you into being thankful. It was just a
few weeks ago I received an e-mail from Kutubo informing me that they were
heading for home for holidays. The tragedy of the loss of his wife cannot be
described, and I hope and pray that God gives him and the family the strength
and faith to carry on.

It is also especially sad that we, as a nation, will be mourning the loss of two
members of Parliament. At this point, it should not be relevant what party they
were affliated with. We have lost people who have been serving our nation in
the way they saw best, and for that we have to be thankful, and pray that God
rewards them for the good deeds they did for our country.

I would like to join all of you in praying for the dearly departed; that there
souls rest in peace, and for their families and loved ones left behind, that
they are able to bear the losses, and continue to work hard in honour of the
memories of the departed.

As for reports that President Jammeh refused to allow the two deceased MPs'
bodies to lie in state at the Parliament, I won't say much now. It is enough to
say that such behaviour is not particularly surprising, coming as it does from
him given his despecable record of callousness, and insensitivity. Thank God,
he too, is a mere mortal whose end will surely come.

Have a great week, and best wishes to all for a great, and HAPPY, and PROSPEROUS
NEW YEAR!! Don't worry, we'll be alright ...

Katim
