Brother, i still don't buy this idea that merely criticising views you don't
agree with in an e-mail forum tantamounts to "seizing liberties". We will
just have to agree to disagree on that and move on to other salient issues at
stake. On the question of self-expression, i wholly repudiate the idea that
only those who can eloquently express themselves in English ought to have the
floor in Gambia-L debates or are likely to frighten into docility those that
relatively can't express themselves in a similar manner. This is a forum for
Gambia and related issues and as such, if one feels that it best serves them
to transliterate whatever it is they wish to say in any language they feel
comfortable expressing themselves in. Rest assured that if it is of interest
to what i participate in here, i shall endeavour to make sense out of it and
in the process enlighten myself. Gambia-L should never be for only those who
can express themselves in the English language.

On GRTS, i was merely making the point that if one makes a comparative
analysis of the juxtaposition of the GRTS and Gambia-L experience, one cannot
fail to see that it is the former that actually "seizes liberties" whilst the
latter has become an example of how a future democratic Gambia should allow
its citizenry to engage in discourses without gagging those who don't toe the
gov't-of-the-day's line. On Tombong, need we bother ourselves about that man.
Frankly, i look forward to the day when - hopefully - you shall also assume a
position of influence in public broadcasting and see whether you will not be
another Tombong. I hope as a future GRTS MD you will religiously work hard to
ensure that all views are heard and none is gagged simply because they
disagree with the establishment.
