It is disheartening to say that our people can really disappoint. As a student may years ago, I always occupied the front row seat when Mugabe makes his many appearances on BBC news programmes. I even organised mini party in our department when he won his first election, just to mock my British friends.
Bearing in mind that this also coincided with the emergence of Maggie Thatcher, with very strong right wing and anti African liberation tendencies; we had high hopes that Africa has someone who knows what he is talking about, and will make the newly independent Zimbabwe a beacon of hope for the continent.
Three decades later, Mugabe has brought neither peace, prosperity, or even justice and equity in Zimbabwe. Worse, he cannot accept that there can be other comrades who may have a better chance of succeeding where he has failed. He belongs to the class dictatorial African leaders who believe they are both indispensable and invincible.
In short, he has not advanced the dignity of the African people. All he succeeded in, is to reduce the average Zimbabwean to the begging class in South Africa, his aggressive pan African rhetoric notwithstanding.

Thanks Coach. Sadly, some are still idolising him with all his recent records.

As Mugabe enters his seventh term in office, how will our Pan-African brothers/sisters define him? No one questions his credentials as a strong opponent of Imperialism and white supremacy. However, without smooth transition in political leadership, the flag-bearers of Pan-Africanism must be sensitive to global opinion, the types of leadership cultivated in our continent.
Has Mugabe officially became failure in terms of his refusal to transfer power to those with similar political stock, a man or woman who can carry the struggle without compromising the intent to fight for justice for all.
Forget about Morgan, Mugabe should at least do what the ANC does, change leadership frequently.
