Mr Editor

    UNIFORMED BABOONS AND UNUNIFORMED GORILLAS

It is very disheartening to see an opposition party
engaging in acts of violence in an electoral process.

Tolerance is the most important democratic
virtue.Don't
tell me that you were provoked to be violent. This is a
shame. You are expected to be mature enough to tolerate
provocation. If you conduct yourselves so badly, how do
you want us to believe that you will not do worse than
massacre innocent students peacefully demonstrating in
expression of their anger at the rape and murder of
their colleagues.

This reminds me of the words of a political analyst
who
said that African politicians, military or civilian are
are "uniformed baboons and ununiformed gorillas".There
is no difference in the way they conduct themselves
vis-a-vis human rights. The UDP in particular has had
its hands in blood a couple of years go when they
murdered an APRC militant. In that incident the leader
Lawyer Ousainou Darboe was personally present at the
scene of violence and he excused himself by saying
that
his driver rushed him away for his safety. This was
disappointiong; one would have expected him to have
the
good will of leadership to stop his supporters from
going as far as murdering an opponent.Vigilanteism has
no place in democratic processes.

May I urge all political actors to keep cool heads in
the count down to the elections.I must give credit to
the Peoples Democratic Organisation for Independece
and Socialism(P.D.O.I.S) as the only opposition in The
Gambia. They are the only party with an
opposite(alternative) development agenda to the ruling
party.

The other parties are only telling us that they are
different drivers;the vehicle remains the same.To hell
with who you are, we want to know your way; the other
way to Vision 2020.

When Yahya Jammeh wields the sword,we wonder whether
he means Jihad or Futanpaff. When Sheriff Dibba
justifies his seven year silence as doing nothing to
prevent events like Bloody Monday, we know he is
telling us what I don't want to call a lie. When
Ousainou Darboe runs away from a scene of violence,we
know he is only interested in his personal
wellbeing. When Hamat Bah prayed to God for
presidency,God gave him what he deserves;being a
National Assembly Member.

As being neutral is equal to not knowing where to
belong, I say vote for PDOIS.They are the only humans
between the baboons and the gorillas. And they do't
mind losing.Only those who mind losing go phisical
fighting in electoral campaigns. So if you don't mind
losing,

                    VOTE FOR PDOIS
