Dear Gambia-L

I received notice today that Her Majety Queen Elizabeth has awarded me the MBE (a British honour), in effect for international friendship.  This is largely to do with the link between Armitage Senior Secondary School and the school where I used to teach: North Bromsgrove High School near Birmingham UK.

The reason why international friendship is worthwhile, is because our many friends in The Gambia are such very good friends, so I am keen to thank them (and my friends in the UK) because really this honour is for all of us, Gambian and British.

                    So, long may such friendship last!
