Brother Faye:
I feel your pain but such generalizations are dangerous. In fact, one of my
first big bust-ups on the L was because I took up one of the esteemed
contributors we had here cuz he painted a great sub-section of the
African-American statement with a broad brush by literally calling them
niggers. When I stood up for what was right, the majority of this list
cowered in their holes and refused to do the right thing. In essence, it is
not the Gambian style to speak against injustice. We like to stay mute and
either get trampled on or see other perpetrating the most horrible crimes on
others. To me, this is truly a sad phenomena.

Anyway, this is the reason I brought it up and I am very glad you were able
to address my concerns reasonably. In the meantime, I beseech you to
apologize to members of the list who are Gambians of Arab origin. There are
many of them on the list and while you don't have to heed my call, it would
be the right thing to do lest we give the impression that the Gambia-L is a
haven for bigots.

Much respect!
