Hamjatta,
To call what GRTS puts out unprofessional is an
understatement. What Tombong has succeeded in doing is to take young
impressionable people who can otherwise have been molded into something that
resemble reporters and turn them into the sorry and inept bunch they are.
After a significant capital investment and a D119million coerced subsidy from
Gamtel we are basically stuck with a bogus outfit. The Gambian people could
have gotten what is passing for great TV by hiring trained parrots. I had a
specific experience with this thing called GRTS. When Yahya was out here in
DC he made an appearance at a place in surburban DC called the Freedom Forum.
He was in a small room that had about 50 people including Tombong himself and
he lied to his teeth about how great things were back home. When the reporter
filed her story the next day she totally fabricated what transpired in that
room. She said Yahya went to this great place and addressed thousands of
people! Inexcusable factual inaccuracies. All they do over there is to
attempt to outdo each other in the neverending race to get airplane rides
overseas and other favors. They bring no intergrity to the job.
