As alluded to in several postings of mine, and, indeed, that of my able and
indefatigible compatriot, Kebba Dampha, APRC is not only in disarray and
their campaign in tatters; but the party is gripped by the delusional
psychosis of Jammeh. Reports have reached us that subsequent to the APRC's
dismal, disappointing and frustrating URD rallies, Jammeh has fired both his
deputy national campaigner organiser, Buba Baldeh, and the APRC's URD
chairman, Alh. Banta Camara.

The fall-out has always been prophesied. Since the launch of the Alliance,
APRC operations in the URD region, especially Basse, have virtually run
aground. Despite the recent attempts by the APRC leadership to bribe
themselves into favour again with the electorate there through lavish
inducements of voters, their efforts continue to flunk as the Alliance make
inroads in areas where the APRC used to claim as strongholds. Jammeh has - as
always - laid the blame on the doorstep of hapless and overpaid local party
apparatchiks and his own senior campaign staff like FJC, Buba Baldeh and
Yankuba Touray. Matters reached a sore and boiling point when Jammeh publicly
lambasted and denounced Buba Baldeh in public, as the APRC held a dismal
rally in a URD town. It was there and then that the enervated and lacklustre
APRC campaign management team knew that Jammeh's delusional psychosis has all
the bearings of someone who knew he is cornered, and looking for a way out of
his imbroglio.

But the only way out of this all is to surrender himself to the Gambian
peoples on October 19, 2001. Blaming hapless and enervated apparatchiks like
FJC, Yankuba Touray and firing Baldeh and Camara, can't help turn things
around for this party that is left with only SEVEN DAYS to clean the dishes,
as Gambians officially and politely declare their party over in a week's
time. No marabout or psychic spiritualist can produce that eleventh hour
miracle to save Jammeh. And, as President Darbo put it earlier, the leviathan
might of people's votes are mightier and more resolute than the gun-toting
thugs and their weaponry put together. Nothing can save Jammeh. The moron
might as well cut his losses and run for it whilst he still has the chance.
After October 19, the walls would have closed in on him beyond salvation.
Can't say we didn't tell him.
