Just to follow up a query generated from my previous posting, one of
the key questions our African study fellows want to work through is
the priority development areas required to forge a career in
information technology/management.

From the work we've undertaken in Africa, we identify as a priority
the development of 'hybrid professionals': those who understand IT,
information systems, and management/organisational issues.

It is they who are now seen as the key staff needed to harness the
power of IT for African organisations in the coming 'information
century'.

Our new Masters degree in 'Management and Information' provides
training in these areas to create the 'hybrid professionals' who will
be essential to future organisational growth.

Details of this Masters degree and shorter hybrid IT training
programmes (6 weeks, 12 weeks and Diploma with distance learning
components) can be obtained from:
http://www.man.ac.uk/idpm/topicvue.htm#is

The main problem I find is that too much training I come across in
other institutions remains blinded by technology.
