EDITORIAL:WHO WILL REPLACE JAMMEH? NOT THE DIVIDED OPPOSITION!!!
    EDITORIAL
Our disintegrated opposition are doing disservice to Gambians and their supporters. This leadership greed is undermining the growing demand for change in The Gambia. What is happening in today’s Gambian opposition camps is “Jangfa” and leadership greed. They all want to be on the top and none of them bothered to find out what it takes to be on the top. The mere fact that these so called politicians could not succeed to come under one umbrella to fight dictator Jammeh in the coming October polls, goes to show that they are not qualified to be entrusted with leadership role. The truth be told, these people put personal interest ahead of national interest.

If the NADD leadership cannot trust one and another, who is going to trust them? Charity begins at home and we expect Darboe, Halifa, Hamat, Waa, Sedia, OJ and others to trust one another. In the absence of trust and respect for one another nothing will work. This is not the time for hypocrites to shy from telling the truth. It is truth time. We will do great disservice to this country and its people, if we failed to expose the leadership deficiencies faced by our divided opposition. We should speak the truth or risked to fail as a nation.
The followers of Ousainou, Waa, Hamat, Halifa, Sedia, OJ and others should tell their party leaders that they have woefully failed as politicians. If the above mentioned personalities cannot manage a trivial leadership impasse, how can they convince us that they can succeed to change the lives of Gambians after the fall of Jammeh.
These people are engaged in a wasteful political venture. It would be foolhardy for them to think that they can unseat Jammeh under such a divided opposition. These people have betrayed the wishes and aspirations of Gambians for a political change. There is no way that these people can realize their leadership ambitions under such a hostile political climate.
The truth be told, NADD is no longer stronger as it used to be. Let us stop pretending and address the burning issues. Halifa and co should closed their doors to hypocrites who trade on lies and deception. These are people pretending to be friends and supporters of NADD when in actual fact, they are not. They have their own ulterior motives, beside being a NADD supporter.
Halifa being a father figure and charismatic politician should now preoccupy himself with engaging Ousainou Darboe and Hamat Bah into discussion to find a lasting end to this unfinished leadership greed. Even it will cost him to give Darboe, the benefit of the doubt, he should do so in the interest of rescuing Gambians from Jammeh’s despotic rule. Two wrongs cannot be right. We expect Halifa to suspend all his errands and concentrate on the need to bring the opposition under one umbrella.
Honestly speaking, Gambians will not forgive these people if they fail to come together. Halifa and his team should be at the compromising end. Compromising doesn’t mean, weakness. What is the rationale behind raising funds for the opposition when they cannot effect a political change? All these fundraisings will go into the drains, if the opposition failed to wake up from their leadership slumber. It is time, we tell these failed politicians the unpleasant truth. It is only the truth that can set us free as a nation.
The accusations and counter accusations leading to the NADD breakaway were centered on nothing but political greed. One thing they failed to realize is that, we all cannot lead. One should be allowed to lead and the rest followed. Our opposition leaders have declared their own verdict before the polls. The outcome of the polls, will be greatly determined by the degree of unity amongst the rank and file of the opposition. In the absence of unity, nothing can work. Halfa, OJ, Darboe, Sedia, Hamat and others should take note of this.
We should not be blind folded or deceived by the number of people attending opposition rallies. To some extent, these figures are not significant when it comes to real voting. What matters is political unity and not a divided opposition. United we stand, divided we fall. No human being can stand on its own. If the political trend continues, opposition leaders stand to be accused of having a different motive other than effecting a political change. A political change cannot be effected in the absence of oneness.
You need to bury your individual differences and leadership greed and put The Gambia ahead of everything you do. Failure of which, we feel sorry for the people of this former British colony. It is truth time, no political gimmicks or lies. Let us tell our opposition leaders the unpleasant truth. They have miserably failed us as a nation. We rest our case.
