Howdy Folks, below is the job description of the Administrative Area
Returning Officers during the last presidential and National Assembly
elections.
1. Drawing up, well in advance, a program and detailed arrangement for poll
including the setting up of polling stations, polling staff, etc;
2. Procurements of all election materials in sufficient quantity well in
advance of polling day;
3 Giving publicity to the commission notice under section 41 of the election
degree in the administrative area.
4. Obtaining copies of the head register from PIEC;
5. Issue of nomination papers to the intending candidates for the national
assembly elections.
6. Receiving nomination papers, supervise the nomination of candidates and
acceptance of security deposits.
7. Placing the nomination papers for public inspection
8. scrutiny of nomination papers and issue of certificate of acceptance or
rejection of nomination , as the case may  be;
9. Publishing a list of contesting candidates as per section 52 of election
degree.
10. Issue of Withdrawal Candidature Form, in case of any withdrawal
11. Receipt of applications and granting of permission for holding campaign
meetings within the administrative area;
12. Convening regular meetings of political parties to discuss problems
relating to the conduct of the elections, review of law and order situation,
enforcement of campaign ethics etc;
13. Deployment of polling station teams for the conduct of the poll and
supply of election materials to them;
14. Effective supervision of the poll;
15. Selection of the counting center and conduct the counting of ballot
tokens;
16. Allocation of transportation for election for election duty officials
and ballot boxes.
17. Reporting of the result of the count to the PIEC; and
18. Safe custody of all election papers and materials after counting.
