Senegalese Transport Union Invites PRO Kujabi
Saturday 1st October 2005

Mr Ebrima JT Kujabi, Communications and Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Port Authority, has been invited to attend a very important meeting in Senegal on the border impasse and the way forward by both the Senegalese Transport Union and the Senegalese Chamber of Commerce, sources revealed to The Point.

According to sources, the meeting to be hosted by the Senegalese authorities and the Senegalese transport union would be held on 1 October 2005 between the Senegalese Chamber of Commerce and The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) in Thies.

The GPA Communications Officer is expected to give a speech at the meeting, sources said, adding that he would also be treated at a dinner at the same venue.

The main transport union in Senegal said to be behind the border impasse has expressed their gratitude to Mr Kujabi for his hard work and discipline since he was transferred at the Barra Terminal sometime this year.

According to officers of GCCI, Mr Kujabi was mentioned at a meeting by the Senegalese authorities as one of the best workers at Barra Terminal. The officials, who wished not to be named, told this paper that Mr Kujabi has been highly commended by the Senegalese authorities, noting that since he took over Barra terminal, there has been no chaos or corruption as it used to be sometime back.

The GCCI officials further said that there Senegalese counterparts have called on the GPA to redeploy Mr. Kujabi to Farrafenni before the border opens, where the traffic is said to be one of the busiest.
