Ebrima,
This is despicable what happened to Coms and what the AG is trying to do to
Ousainou Darboe. See what we meant when we said that the AG can get someone
fired from the judicial arm of government. AGs in the past have been known
to instigate the firing of chief justices because of political reasons. It
was just a matter of time that Secka gets Coms fired. But we tell the
learned lady that this is a blessing in disguise. Leave with your integrity
intact. There are greener pastures at the private bar for competent lawyers.
Leave those bunch of losers that continue to help this government draft
draconian legislation and continue to go to court with spurious arguments.
Fancy that knuckle-head (Baabaa Jobe) going to Observer saying that this was
a democratic government that respected the doctrine of separation of powers.
Am sure his little brain almost blew up when he tried to conceptualize that
doctrine. What do they have to say about the firing of the court officials
in Basse? Poor people applying the law. Serious offenses like murder can
never be tried in a magistrate court. What did they want the chap to do? The
law says he has to remand the matter to a higher court. Can't the AG drill
that into Yaya's little brain.
This news about the attempts to put Darboe back in jail should not come as a
big surprise. It should be resisted vigorously. That is the whole purpose
behind charging him with a bogus murder count. I personally thought that
they would not be dumb enough to try and jail Darboe and spark another
upheaval. But this government do not cease to amaze me. How can 80 people
kill one man? Among the people who were there defending themselves, Darboe
is the least likely to register the fatal blow. So using this logic alone,
they should leave the man in peace. If this reckless government insist on
this irresponsible path and arrest and detain Darboe, then they should be
held responsible for the repercussions.

>>Ebrima,
>>Raymond Sock is about to resign his post of SG. It will not come as a
>>surprise to those who know him given the unprofessional manner in which
>>his
>>boss is running the AG's Chambers. An already repressive judiciary is
>>being
>>re-inforced by Cheyassin Secka causing Raymond to re-think his position in
>>this government. Family and peer pressure is mounting to which he will
>>succum to soon. His wife, an African-American cannot sit by and see her
>>husband being used as an instrument of oppression. The Civil Servants are
>>wising up to this monstrous regime.
>>Meanwhile, "Coms" Wadda has been dismissed from the service. She is
>>leaving the Government with pride and her reputation enhanced for the
>>principled stance she took against a corrupt bunch of hoodlums who are
>>hell
>>bent on empting the government coffers. Isatou, your colleagues are proud
>>of you. I, for one, will join you, if ever I am confronted by these
>>nonentities. Until such time, I will continue the strugggle from within by
>>providing the world with inside information to expose the evil mature of
>>the Jammeh regime.
>>Cheyassin called up a meeting of his "green" lawyers yesterday still
>>looking for ways to place Ousainou Darboe under remand. He is still
>>determined to put the UDP leadership behind bars. I am not a lawyer but
>>this approach seems to me to be be unconstitutional; but again "these
>>people" have been operating outside the constitution since day one. So
>>nothing is new. However, a dogged pursuit of the UDP leadership will only
>>bring further violence and bloodshed. The UDP, and I hope the rest of the
>>opposition, will not back down. EBRIMA, THERE IS NO BACKING DOWN AS FAR AS
>>THE UDP IS CONCERNED. I CAN GUARANTEE YOU THAT.
>>On other developments, Commissioner Kanteh, NBD who was fired last on
>>Sunday has fled the country. He is suspected to be in Senegal. He was
>>going
>>to be accused as an accomplice in an "attempted coup". He would have been
>>killed before reaching Banjul from Kerewan. They will still cook up yet
>>another attempted coup to repeat the November,'94 massacre.
>>Borry Touray, the Magistrate who referred Ousainou's case to the Supreme
>>Court in Banjul has been fired together with four (4) staff of Basse Area
>>Council. The latter were considered to be UDP sympathisers; that is the
>>only crime they have committed, Ebrima.
>>Check today's Observer for Baba Jobe's interview. He has gone back to
>>being
>>Assistant Secretary, Office of the President. They can run, Ebrima, but
>>they cannot hide including Baba Jobe Asst.Secreatry-cum-terrorist. Within
>>the next few days or weeks, you will witness the demystification of Baba
>>Jobe. He may be a terrorist but people power is more formidable than his
>>tactics. The UDP has shown him in Basse that united as a people we can
>>defeat terrorism, especially terrorism whose sole objective is for the
>>personal enrichment of Yahya, Baba Jobe and a few criminals. THE GAMBIAN
>>POPULATION IS FED UP AND WE ARE READY FOR ANY EVENTUALITY. THE PEOPLE WILL
>>PRESERVE THEIR DIGNITY AT ALL COST. So long and have a good day.
