What do we suppose is next in this country of ours that has been taken over
by terrorists? This is no legitimate and respectable government, but a band
of outlaws who have let loose their thugs throughout the land, to attack
anyone who dares to be on the side of truth.

Do we still believe that we are dealing with people who one can reason with,
and whom one can try to negotiate with and address as if they know the
protocol of governing? I think it is now abundantly clear that what we have
here are criminals who have hijacked our country, and every day, we witness
more and more criminal acts directed at the Gambian people.

However, even as we bemoan another heinous act, the defenders of this
criminal regime intensify their charade, scurrying here and there, telling us
how fortunate we are that we have a school or two built, that those in charge
are good guys, and it is other elements that are responsible for these
criminal and unforgivable acts against our people and our country. I think
anyone who thinks that these are a group of people to approach in the normal
manner must be out of their minds. It looks like the desensitzation continues,
kidnappings and dissappearances , murdered children, and now, the invasion
and burning of private property. It is a process that will continue and each
new criminal act becomes worse than the other. It is time for all Gambians
who profess to care to come forward and be a part of the solution before we
are relegated to being a part of the problem.

 Glers,

The owner and proprietor of Radio One FM,George Christensen escaped with
substantial burns to his face and body when his radio station was attacked
this morning by unidentified thugs.Between 3.00 and 3.30am today 8/10/2000
close to ten unidentified men armed with teargas and
petrol(gasoline)surrounded the studios of Radio One FM on Kairaba Avenue in
an attempt to burn the station down. The gallant watch man raised an alarm
and wrestled the thugs. The lights were smashed and teargas was used to blind
the eyes of the occupants, after which the station was set on fire.
The latest reports indicate that the rest of the staff on duty, including
the DJ escaped unharmed. George Christensen is currently at a medical
facility receiving treatment for burns he suffered as a result of this
 henious act.
This is the situation as it stands now. May God save our country.
 Thanks,
 Dagmar
