Musa Jeng, Joe sambou and dear G-L & G-Post Members:
'
Greetings to you all. First, many thanks for the continued interest in
"Save The Gambia Fund." The debate and scrutiny it receives daily attest to
the goodwill and desire to make a peaceful democratic change at home. I
commend you all for your input, especially Joe Sambou, Kebba Foon, Musa Jeng
and many others who work tirelessly to see the Fund's realization.

Yet as we continue in the debate we must also commit ourselves to
contributing to the fund and the issue of who belongs to the listserve and
other concerns, can be settled in time.

It is amazing to me how much the political landscape in The Gambia has
changed. Jammeh's support has reached an all time low even among once
staunch supporters. This is a golden opportunity for the opposition if only
they can get together. If the latter were to obtain Jammeh would be sent
packing. Before this happens, however, a lot of work has to be done:
reforming the IEC, enfranchising Gambians in the Diaspora, a framework for a
coalition and money to support it.

Having talked to many political leaders at home, it is clear that they habor
high expectations of us, i.e., those of us in the Diaspora. Also, that we
play our part in not only helping to raise needed funds but to lobby
globally to ensure free and fair elections. All these are related and we
can work on them together at the same time.

I commend those who continue to pledge and send their money even in the face
of this debate, and also to Joe Sambou for not giving up, when it would have
been the easy thing to do because of the personal attacks. I also
congratulate the Gambians of Chicago fo what appeared to be another well
organized and successful conference. People at home are taking note of your
contribution and salute you accordingly.

Let us keep up the fight against the current regime.

Cheers!

Abdoulaye
No justice, no peace!
