President Jammeh is at an advance stage of a very serous mental illness and his followers have become totally blind to his lies and deceptions. Jammeh need to be removed from power as soon as humanly possible to avoid catastrophic consequences to our dear motherland. How many Gambians have disappeared during Jammeh’s brutal dictatorship? How many are or were detained and tortured by Jammeh’s brutal security forces? How many Gambians of enormous resources and capabilities are living in exile due to Jammeh’s intolerance?

A greater preponderant of Gambian families have not been spared by Jammeh’s brutal dictatorship. If you have not been directly harassed by Jammeh’s torture machinery, your family member or someone you know is being or has been treated that way. Recently both the FOROYA, The Point News Paper and many others have published the names of many Gambia citizens who are currently being detained by Jammeh’s security forces in contravention to the Gambian Constitution and other laws of our land. Since the day he forced himself to the helm, Jammeh has blatantly refused to respect our Constitution; he violates its provisions at will without any repercussion. Our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers …are everyday subjected to cruel and inhuman treatment under Jammeh’s orders, because they disagreed or perceived to have disagreed with Jammeh’s backward ideas and beliefs. Our country is at a critical stage; are we going to let Jammeh destroy it beyond repair or take control of our
 destiny?

Our economy that was one of the best in the sub region before Jammeh’s misguided-dictatorship is now the worst in the sub-region. Our education sector was also competitive before Jammeh stepped-in, but now it is the worst in the sub-region; the best example is the 2006 examination results. Our healthcare system has also been steadily deteriorating since 1994 when Jammeh came to power. It seems that Jammeh’s misguide-dictatorship is the worst misfortune to happen to our dear motherland, even worst than colonialism. Unlike the colonialists, Jammeh’s misrule is seen to be legitimate from the standpoint of the international standard of democracy. Jammeh, a Gambian is using Gambians to torture, mimic, disgrace, humiliate, kill, and exile Gambians. It is very sad that some Gambians would allow Jammeh to use them as tools to carryout illegitimate acts against their own brothers and sisters.

Now he is claiming to have a mandate from the devil to cure HIV/AIDS.This irresponsible claim is very dangerous for our country. Imagine HIV/AIDS positive individuals in the subrogation may have incentive to come to Gambia for Jammeh’s bogus treatment. These individuals could pass the virus to our people while they are in the country. Moreover, a belief that Jammeh can cure HIV/AIDS is an incentive for his followers or others with limited knowledge to engage in unprotected or multi-party sexual relationships. Such a possibility could spread the virus in our country, the sub-region and even the wider world.

This is why I think this claim of Jammeh is very dangerous and irresponsible and it makes it even more urgent to remove Jammeh from the helm of power in our dear country. Any one who can visualize the possible consequences of Jammeh’s misrule must educate others and proactively strive to change direction.

It is like this. In 1965 when Gambia gained independence from England and for the first time after a long period of colonialism, Gambians freely appointed our first captain to lead us to our collective destiny. Nevertheless, this captain was not the best, Jammeh forcefully, used the resources we entrusted to him to protect our country, removed our captain and appointed himself in his place. The Gambian people were extremely kind to Jammeh and his Junta colleagues, we could have forced them out of power but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Since 1994, Jammeh has being taking this privileged as a right, brutalizing our brothers and sisters for no reasons, misusing our collective resources for his person benefit, and using it to mystify himself as a supernatural being. May be he want us to belief that he is Jesus as he is incarnated. I think all the passengers must be concern with the mental status of the captain because their chance of ever reaching their destiny is
highly depending on his wisdom. A mentally imbalance individuals lacks most of major ingredients necessary to make wise decisions for his own betterment, moreover an entire nation.

It is high time for Gambians to act concertedly to put an end this madness and take charge of our humble destiny.
