Mo, thanks for your observation and yes, you are right, Waa is a leader of a
political party and we should hear from NDAM what they intend to do. I
however, also believe that Waa was acting on behalf of all Gambians and
anyone of us should volunteer any way we can. It was not only NDAM
supporters who were calling for Waa and others to lead a protest march it
was all of us. Thus, the collective responsibility to secure his release
and help his family is incumbent on all of us. I also happen to view our
struggle as a collective effort and not broken in piecemeal on party lines.
NDAM was among the parties that pledged to discuss a possible coalition,
thus I see the party as an extension to a higher cause.

The Fund was also set up to finance the efforts on the ground and this
situation clearly falls under that umbrella. NDAM can do what they intend
and others can complement their efforts. That is the reason why I
mistakenly called on Saul Mbenga to volunteer to collect the funds (I
thought Saul was part of ADAM). The way I see it, any day we (Gambians in
the diaspora, individually and collectively) fail to act is an injustice in
itself. It's been a week and I hope it will not turn into months before we
act. Thanks again for your observations and points well taken.
