The E-mail below was sent to me after the writer writes to me in private and
asked me if I mind forwarding any of hismails to the List without publishing
his/her name. I agreed to do without editing it at all.

Ousman Jallow Bojang.

Ous,
Per our last E-mail eXchange, I here by send my first MAil to you. We are at
a very important stage of the struggle and despite my school engagments, I
will try by all means to send you as much information as I could. And again,
I am telling you NOT to reply to any mails on what I write if any
questions/clarifications are asked. I will respond to them at my own
convenience.

THURSDAY 18TH.

As the “day” finally gets here, I am calling on all Gambian voters to know
what they are voting for. The days of  bantaba politics based on who you know
should be gone. The politics of voting for a relative should be gone and we
all have to concentrate on which leader will be better for our national
development. All politics is local, so vote for the one you KNOW and I say
you KNOW will be for the betterment of the nation as a whole.

I have been keenly following what is going on the ground, and I am amazed
that the media has not played its role more by scrutinize these party leaders
to tell us exactly HOW they are going to do what they intend to do. We need
to know that its cheaper to stand in front of the nation and tell us what one
would have done, or even five year development plans, but HOW is NEVER
answered.

The UDP/PPP alliance need to be very careful of. One has to know ones history
to be able to predict the future. Some of the other parties have pointed this
out in different way, but I am not sure if the fact is being nailed on
continuously. It would be very unrealistic for anyone to think that the UDP
is not the PPP just because there is a different captain of the ship. why not
look at the people surrounded by the UDP leader. The likes of  Omar Jallow,
Lamin K. Jabang, and even Dr.Manneh left his assylee post to come and
campaign. To tell you how much these people have to lose if Jammeh wins, look
at how much they lost when the second Republic rescued us as nation. Those of
us on the ground here knows why the UDP/PPP alliance have been alleging all
these riots against the APRC. The UDP/PPPteam knows that they have lost all
hopes, and are doing all they could to raise false alarms so that the
government could act upon it and have the foreign governments think that this
government is not ready for a fair elections.

How could the opposition, and only the UDP/PPP alliance point out that the
fires at the government buildings are started by the APRC? should they not
try to find out more first? They should have been more courteous than that.
In this regard, some of us even think that they probably knew who did it. The
APRC government know that Thursday is so close to have only a few political
leaders to change the whole course, and they will not do anything that will
endanger the elections.

Ousman, let me tell you that the Gambian people are more sophisticated than
any of the Gambia-L writers like the Kebba Jallow’s, Ebrima Ceesay, Chongan
and even Sam Sarr are up to. Could you please tell them that theGambians will
not let them have a second ride over our backs. They ran away. They could say
all that they want. That would not deter the Gambians from striving forward.

All that the Gambians need to know and that they did, is that President
Jammeh is the only candidate who has the intention of building this country
for the better. I can assure you and all that the Gambians will not vote a
step back when they have witnessed a 30 year rule under UDP/PPP and that of
the ONLY seven years of the APRC.

I will try to write more. I am unable to subscribe to the List for the
Internet Café I go to is so expensive and cannot read all my mails. I
normally pick and chose what to read by going to the archives, and will send
you my responses if possible and you could forward them for me. I appreciate
your help. And I can tell you that Gambian people appreciate every effort
some of do to put the records straight and not be blind by the your
allegiance to any political party.
