Demba, Ganako presenter interviewed someone by the name Martin (am not sure if I got the name right). They discussed the recent meeting of the Gambian Opposition Leaders on concerns over APRC/Yahya/Sabally accusing UDP of tribal politics. Demba contends the statement appeared to be measured not to offend Yahya. Martin agreed and even added that he wonder what that statement would mean without consequences. He also cited the many letters/open letters from certain opposition groups that bear no results over the last 19 years.

Just want to put out this quick observation - EXACTLY MY POINT. We mean nothing to Yahya unless we have some leverage. Something HE FEARS and/or VALUE. A conventional political party will have her support base as leverage - that is moving public opinion one direction or another. The Gambian opposition has not made that the case with the 100s of thousands that reportedly vote opposition.

In addition to compound that domestic muscle is to lure international support - politically, economically and morally. Leverage do not appear in thin air. Some work has to be done to earn and sustain it.We've not done it!

Must add that but even with the poor level of leverage, it would be easy for Yahya to arrest, detain or kill ME than he could with any of the opposition leaders. That is because they've more leverage compared to me. The point being, the percentage they muster is very low for what is at hand.

WE MUST WORK TO DEVELOP LOTS OF LEVERAGE

Burama
