If the Daily Observer's story is any thing to go by, the UDP/NRP/GPDP colliation has proven beyong all doubts its lack of plans to develop Gambia for Gambians. Mr. Bah claimed that his alliance "have international contacts" to provide them all needed resources to develop Gambia. And Mr Gomez also claimed the "the alliance’s presidential aspirant Ousainou Darboe’s rule has been approved naturally and it’s a blessing to Gambians." Who approve it?  For his part, Mr. Jammeh is threatening the electorates to marginalized by his government if they failed to reelect him.
   
  I cannot see any difference between these two political parties bent on deceiving the electorates in order to get their votes. By the same extension, the Grand Alliance, as its sometimes refered to, will not be any different from the APRC regime currently mismanaging our national affair due to dishonesty and incompetence. They are not sincere in their efforts to liberate Gambians from the bondage of poverty, ignorance, and many other vices impossed on them by disloyal, corrupt and power hungry politicians.

          ‘UDP/NRP/GPDP alliance rally at Old Yundum               Written by Alhagie Jobe        Tuesday, 05 September 2006       Leaders of the UDP/ NRP/ GPDP coalition have jointly vowed to transform and develop The Gambia into a well-developed modern nation, if elected into office.
  Addressing a mass political meeting at Old Yundum on Sunday, Hamat Bah, and Executive Member of UDP / NRP / GPDP coalition assured that the tripartite alliance was born to place The Gambia among the comity of enviable nations. He affirmed that the difficulties faced by farmers in marketing their agricultural produce will be history, under the UDP/ NRP/ GPDP-led government. 
  
  The NRP leader emphasised that the alliance is development-oriented. He then elaborated: “We have many projects in the pipeline for the people of Old Yundum and its satellite villages. We will provide quality hospitals and health centres, dispensaries and clinics, at every corner in Kombo North, and the entire country. There will be adequate medical supplies, with ambulances. Pharmacists will be decentralised to ensure access to treatment. For pensioners, school going children, poor and the disable, they will have free access to treatment. We have international contacts to ensure that all these are realised.”
  
  He then added: “Since the grand alliance is here for development and to implant the seeds of peace and tranquillity among Gambians, we will stop the forceful seizure and illegal sales of land in the country. There will be land administration offices that will regulate the buying and selling of land,” he promised.
  
  About the plight of non-Gambians residing in the country, the former Upper Saloum Parliamentarian said, they will discourage the payment of alien cards and then assured that every Ecowas citizen will enjoy his or her right as required by the sub-regional Protocols.  
  
  He then advised youth to be committed to the cause of nation building and take up ventures in order to live a decent life. He also urged youth to complement the coalition’s aims and objectives for a rapid national development process.
  
  For his part, Henry Gomez, GPDP leader and Executive Member of the UDP/ NRP/ GPDP alliance, commended youths of Old Yundum for the high turnout, saying “this has shown that you love your country”. 
  
  He told the supporters that the alliance’s presidential aspirant Ousainou Darboe’s rule has been approved naturally and it’s a blessing to Gambians. 
  
  Mr Gomez the continued: “We will discourage tribalism in the country, and focus mainly on national development. On the education sector, we plan to ensure that computer technology will be installed in primary schools across the country. This will enable children get firsthand education on computing at childhood. Every Gambian will have a right to Gambian national passport without any difficulties. The cost of a bag of rice will be reduced to D250. There will be 24 hours internal security patrol countrywide. The tourism season will be all year-round, instead of six months.”
  
  For this to be realised, the GPDP leader called on Gambians to effect a change of government by voting for Lawyer Ousainou Darboe.
  
  Other speakers at the rally included Dembo Kambi, GPDP Youth Leader, Ba Jamba Bojang, Grand Alliance Brufut Area Chairman, Isatou Jatta, Women Youth Leader, Sheikh Ceesay, NRP Youth Leader, among others.
