Alhaji,

As you may or may not be aware, I live in Tromsų, a two-hour flight to Oslo.
Although there are some fifteen or so Gambians living here, they do not want
to hear anything that has to do with Gambian politics beyond the blah, blah.
Beyond that they'll not hesitate to tell you that they have 'left Gambia to
Gambians', that they now live in Norway!

What I had in mind was organising a demonstration in Oslo with its large
Gambian community. In 2000 when the students were gunned down, we managed to
obtain a permit from the police and marked out disgust at Youngs Torget.

I set the ball rolling on that occasion with the help of Saiks, and when
some people like Omar Drammeh, Pappa Sarr and others heard about it, they
volunteered to join the organising committee. All the resources we needed
was printed materials. We made a lay out of our message and succeeded in
obtaining the printing and copying facilities by going the offices of the
Labour Party's Youth Wing in Youngs Torget. We made all the copies we needed
for distribution at the event.

The only financial resources we injected were not more than what we used to
buy the five-meter white cloth we displayed our message/cause on, and the
half litre of paint used to print it. We did the printing (on the banner
inside the mosque a couple of hours before the event kicked off). We managed
to borrow a megaphone from another organisation whose name I can't recall
just now.

All else was volunteer work from dedicated folks. Omar is still there, why
not talk to him and start something. I am sure folks like Jobs will also be
interested as we have talked much on starting a fund collection drive for
NADD. Our problem was distance, again. We needed two signatories who would
co-sign to dispense the account we talked of opening. May be this is an
opportunity to finally solve that problem too. Since he promised to get back
to me as soon as he had someone willing to be a co-signatory I have not
heard from him. I'm sure hell be happy to have a trusted person like
yourself as partner.

If you guys are able to pick a date I can do what I can from here, on the
phone and emails and join you at least two days before the event.

In the event the Labour Party Youth can't help, the Socialist Youth had
promised to help. I can start by getting you their contacts details in case
you don't have them and if you don't mind, draft and make a layout out of
the pamphlet explaining the plight of the NADD leaders. Before I forget
Ann-Marie was also a back bone then. Omar has phone number.

With the internet, we do not have to be physically together to get things
going.

Regards,

Kabir.
