I need to inform you about the doctrine of
reasonableness. President Jammeh system of hiring and
firing civil servants is unreasonable. It is the most
unreasonable thing any reasonable person will do. It
seems the Civil Service is devoid of penalties to
punish poor performers or corrupt individuals. One
would have expected President Jammeh to utilise the
services of the PSC before making any sacking.
Instead, he abuses his constitutional powers by
sacking people willy nilly.

By the way, whilst I agree that the President has the
power to hire and fire Civil Servants, its a standard
norm that the right channels are complied with. PSC
should be involved in this process and the individuals
concerned should be given the opportunity to defend
their case.

Finally, can you tell me where in the 1997
Constitution did it state that President Jammeh should
sack Civil Servants???

Have a wonderful weekend
