Gambia-L:

For those on Gambia-L who are interested in African literature, I should
like to recommend:

"KISS AND QUARREL:
Yoruba/English Strategies of Mediation"

(Published by the Centre of West African Studies, Birmingham University
2000: ISBN 0704422832. Price £12.00).

Dr Stewart Brown, a Senior Lecturer in African/Caribbean Literature at the
Centre of West African Studies at Birmingham University has edited this
collection of essays and creative articles).

The collection explores the complexity of the literary relationship between
Yoruba and English, and considers the work of many of the major literary
figures in this field writing in English (for example, Ben Okri, Wole
Soyinka and Niyi Osundare) and also includes original poetry, fiction and
drama.

It’s a really good read!

Ebrima Ceesay,
Birmingham, UK
