OPINION
The Culture of Corruption
Introduction to a series of articles.
By Biraa Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005
(Exerpt from a series of articles on corruption)
Corruption in high office:

"The most intresting thing with our african so-called leaders is that they
all think that it is a bunch of fools that they are leading and that you
just need to be a demagoge in order to be sucessful in perpetual rule.

Some of the tricks that Africans need to understand are the simple
mechanisms that are used by the mutual partners (governments, private
companies, politicians in all nations of the world) are the legalised and
institutionalised systems of corruption.

i.e.

Stupendiums and awards that are given to junior partners in order to gain
favours.
Honourary degrees as a means of channeling funds to clients.
College and university tutions partially paid or even full scholarships to
family members to corrupt your whole family forever.
Assistance, backing and secondments to secure international jobs.
Funds to so-called foundations that bolster your financial standing of a
target.
Aid to phoney NGOs and sometimes functioning but corrupt ones."
These are just few examples to give a taste of the reality.

Our so-called leaders MUST understand that some of us cannot br fooled
through lies and manipulation, we ubderstand the system. Corruption is
more vividly exposed in african countries today because the big sums are
share by the very few who also purport to be the champions in the fight
against graft and corruption.

Just take a simple example. The millions of dollars that are given to a
Foundation runned by or on behalf of a particular leader is by vertue of
the fact that he or she is representing a particular community or nation
state but this same person will use these funds as if they were personal
property for election campaign and would by some presents in the form of
food medicare utilities among others and the people would then say "Leader
X's gift to the people". What a blatant lie!! It is the people's property
in the first place.

Monies would also be taken from state cuffers and entered in the financial
ledger as unproected expences (since it is getting harder for them just to
take monies without accounting for them) and these funds would then be
used to buy commodities and dish them out to party organisations and
grassroot leaders.

Tickets that are given by institutions like the Hajj fund are also given
to party sympathisers as from the so-called leader. What a hokes!!!

Let the people wake up and never again see thiefs as saviours!!!
