I am going to make a call to New York right now to find out if this is true, because this would be rediculous for any good son/daughter of the Gambia in the U.S. here to join this idiot (yahya jammeh) in his stupid wasting of our country's money like this. Nonsense! This guy is sick!!!

Following Gambia's 3-1 Victory Against Brazil, President Jammeh Presents
$10,000 to APRC Supporters in the US
BY OUR NEW YORK CORRESPONDENT

September 18, 2005
Following Gambia's 3-1 victory against Brazil, jubilant Gambian President
Yahya Jammeh on Saturday presented a gift of $10,000 (ten thousand United
States dollars) to his APRC supporters residing in the US to organise a
picnic party today at a park in New York City, The ALLGAMBIAN online
Newspaper can reveal.

Our Correspondent who was at the New York APRC meeting, attended by Jammeh's
ministers, senior government officials and some Ruling Party followers said
The Gambian leader told the gathering that he was impressed by the overall
performance of The Gambian boys and consequently decided to organise a
$10,000 dollars picnic party for his supporters here in the US.

According to Jammeh, despite moves by what he called "My enemies who posted
flash news on the Internet that Brazil had defeated The Gambia, we have been
vindicated. We have emerged victorious despite their postings on the
Internet. Thank God that we have won the game. This is the first time for
such a victory in Africa."

Jammeh also informed the New York gathering, which was strictly restricted
to people perceived to be opponents of his government that he earlier told
the Brazilian President who is here to attend the UN World Summit that The
Gambia was going to defeat his country. Jammeh added that Gambia's victory
was not a surprise to him, as he always predicted such a victory.

The Gambian leader also told the meeting that the victory celebrations will
be extended in The Gambia upon his return. According to our correspondent,
many observers at the meeting wondered how The Gambian president can engaged
in "such a spending spree" when the average Gambian cannot afford one decent
meal. The picnic party is scheduled to take place today at an undisclosed
park in New York.
