NADD is currently sailing through a fog of uncertainty in uncharted waters that is invested with a treacherous power struggle from within and without. As such sailing the NADD ship on an even keel has now turn out to be the casus foederis of NADD as a political entity. As of today, Halifa Sallah is the only politician to officially declare his membership to NADD pending his official resignation from PDOIS.
NADD as a party is definitely going to be very problematic , and its propagandistic invocation can easily deceive the observer about its actual operative value. How can NADD as a community of interests bring about a common denominator, expressed in one manifesto created out of expediency, that extends beyond the immediate removal of Jammeh? It is very clear from Ousainou Darboe's arguments before the Supreme Court that NADD's merger in principle, with reference to its Memorandum of Understanding, omitted a call for a legal codification into an united political party. Darboe has never confused the independence of his party, UDP, that is in an alliance in opposition against Jammeh but nevertheless in competition with PDOIS, NDAM and NRP.
Only power can establish power and wherever competition exists between parties, domination becomes the ultimate aim. Darboe's UDP, which is the dominant party within the alliance, shall concede political advantage only with the expectation of proportionate advantages in return. Forget Halifa's wishful thinking, and OJ's empty preemptive threats and the pathetic pleas from the Gambian diaspora...politics is all about power, and the game is amoral.

NADD promised its supporters to come up today on Thursday with a press conference but apparently all we see now is a rather depressed coordinator preempting his mea culpa, and giving a preliminary obituary announcement of the end of NADD.

Chei, daw na yaram!

Ebou
