Is there any reason for the gaps between the different election dates.
Why not have it all the same year and time so that the recruitment and government's operating costs can be reduced.
Maybe I am missing something. Can someone knowledgeable elaborate?
Thanks

He expressed the hope that the forum will deliberate on matters which would reduce the likelihood of the kind of political tension the country has experienced in the recent past.

> Bishop Johnson also stressed that IEC has adequate funds and other electoral resources to conduct the local government elections as soon as section 56(1) is implemented or the Supreme Court issues an order for action. He described as untrue newspaper reports that the United Democratic Party(UDP) was denied permit for a rally on August 5, when the IEC had ordered the IGP to that effect. "I simply recalled the atmosphere and spirit of the meeting of July 4 to the IGP and we agreed it would be prudent to grant the UDP the permit they requested for August 5, 2000," he retorted.
