Non Violent Demonstration with Didnity and Respect is Highly Encouraged Name: Demba Seattle Washington Date Posted: Nov 18, 05 - 9:21 AM Email: [log in to unmask]
Message: Fellow brothers and Sisters in the Gambia and anywhere you may be, I kindly urged that we all embrace the slogan "Non Violence Demonstration". As tempers run high and anger takes over common sense, we must take individual responsibilities and display high sense of political maturity, respect for individual liberties and dignity of every individual including our opponents. Let us remember that non violence demonstrations have always proofed to be THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF CHANGING BRUTAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
While we all have tons of anger in us, we must put the interest of the country and the people at heart. We must look back at the history of violence in Africa and what it led to in individual countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Rwanda just to mention a few. We must not allow a few individuals, a desperate government, jeopardize the peace and tranquility that have always existed among our people. We must also remember that the goal of such governments is to create unwaranted Chaos and unrest so they can take control of the situation in the name of the people. We must know that a desperate government will do anything to stay in power. We must not forget that few years ago gun men were ordered to shut at our innocent students.

My message to you all is that while we prepare to express our anger, display absolute political maturity and show the whole world that we don't hate the people in government, we hate the policies they adopt. We are determine not to eliminate them but to get them out of power and replace them not with another dictator govermnet, but a responsible goverment that will respect the role of our service men and women, that will value life and respect the dignity and liberty of every individual regardless of political affiliation.
To our POLICE and MILITARY; remember your duty is to protect the country and its citizens. The people on the other side are your BROTHERS and SISTERS. The people demonstrating are only showing their anger and expressing their freedom of expression. Protect the country and its people and not the government that has come and will eventually go. Remember the lives you protect may be your own.
Once again, I urge you all to step back and look at history, know that the ultimate goal is to free our country of brutal regimes and to hold the goverment accountable for its actions.
A word of Caution: I remember Liberia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, sudan and Somalia. I remember people dying like vultures, kids starving to dead and left with no hope in life whatsoever. Brothers beheading brothers in Rwanda for no sense whatsoever. I love my people, my country and its history. Let us preserve the peace by all means. Go to bed thinking about the price of instability and hold yourselves at higher standards. Don't let the means defeat the purpose. "Our feet will be tired but our souls will be rested" Long life the Gambia and its people, down with greed and insecurity.

As a patriotic citizen of The Gambia (different from being a patriotic citizen of Yaya)being real and honest, I cannot let these days pass without sharing my thoughts like everyone is doing. One thing I am certain of is, we are all looking at a different and a very delicate suituation here. Everybody knows that Halifa is in the hands of the dictatorship, Halifa will never run away from anything on this earth. Ask him where he is today mr. President he witnessed your April killing. Halifa does not know how to run away or hide, but the anouncement on Tv and National radio on air went as if they don't know his whereabout. Also adding a panic to the public as if Halifa is dangerous or had commited anything wrong. There are two reasons to that in my opinion, a)They new that Halifa's letter went well in the public domain at home and abroad and that decision of NADD to denounce the president would happen because they (President & co)would not retreat decided to get him before that day.
Blieve me if that had happened that was the end of Jammeh. b)He wants to clean his hands from being responsible of halifa's dissapearance, therefore they pretended that he is at large, we have to be very careful and watchful of Jammeh here. May God forbid anything can happen here. I don't think Jammeh and his guys really think of after everything. Nothing lasts for ever in this world. Gambia is blessed, we will get rid of you very soon Jammeh. Binneh and others will handle your case while we clean your mess one day.

May God safe Our motherland

NB: Please all users of AllGambian.net, lets us put our differencies aside and stop lambasting each other on what we write or think. As long as we are all heading to the same direction we will get there. Your believe is your believe, your thoughts are your thoughts etc, etc but The Gambia is for us all. Let us concentrate on the issues that would lead us to the freedom we are advocating. We shall never get there if we pick on each other. I thank you all
