Hello everyone, it is my pleasure as the President of
the Gambian Youths Organization (GYO)to introduce to
you some facts about the soccer tournament currently
taking place in Harlem that includes three teams from
Senegal, a team from Mali, Cameroon, Guinea Conakry,
Cincinnati, Washington DC, the Gambia and Ghana.
Group 2 comprise of the Gambia, Ghana, Cameroon and
Guinea. Group 1 comprises of Mali and three teams from
Senegal (ACM Manhattan, Bronx Niages, and New Jersey).
Washington DC and Cincinnati will come play the semi
finals and final with us on the week of 20th and 21st
of August.
The GYO Gambian team is scheduled to play Cincinnati
on the Saturday, 20th of August 2005, at 6:00pm. Our
current standing in scoring is as follows: (Gambia 3,
Guinea 1; Gambia 2, Ghana 1; Gambia 3, Cameroon 1).
We are glad to get this far in the tournament as we
are leaning toward making a history. Come watch
history in the making for you fellow country men as we
strive to elevate the name of our country to a new
height in the soccer world. The team is mainly Gambian
at ages ranging 19 to 29. Although, we lack players
with big bodies, we have players with skills and
styles.
Long live the Gambian Youths Organization.

By Momodou S. Sawaneh - President of GYO
