Subject: [us-afr-network] Thanks! Peace and Stability in Africa.

We feel good that so many delegates and some States took an active part to help Mozambique. I failed to mention an important fact. Both the President, Bill Clinton and the Vice-President were here in San Francisco and so we took the opportunity to give them our blue prints to help Mozambique, and this did help a lot. Thanks David Mozer for this forum. I got your name spelled correctly this time! Sorry for spelling it incorrectly the last post.

Brainstorming on how to address future actions linked to Africa and Africans is healthy. An important ingredient in UNITY. Many a time it takes but one person to make great changes. So, it does not matter how small the group is that tackles an issue or project, that is important but will affect people and bring about progress. Africa now is in dire need of PEACE and STABILITY. In Mozambique which has done an excellent job in the past years, has some difficult years ahead. Other neighboring countries are busy fighting one another. No Economic Prosperity can take place where there is constant killing and fighting.

Here in the U.S. we have too many African organizations. Again and again the question arises, is there ONE or TWO organizations that has the ability to deliver? To day in the U.S. there is not one single strong African Organization that can bring concrete change, deliver results. The Mozambique crisis spelled it out in detail. There was a lot of talk but no real action. In the end grassroots and individuals took charge and made stuff happen.

The NSOA allowed delegations from various States to understand the issues affecting Africa and Africans. Africa is a Continent, 54 countries. What we are attempting to address is a difficult task. The best way to address the situation, is to select models or tasks that can be attained. Here in California if the delegates build one school and dig 10 wells, providing clean drinking water, we will have done ourselves proud. We intend to do this by the year 2002.

South Africa and Egypt have plans in place where the United States can address Trade and other Infrastructure issues. Most other African Nations do not have the U.S. participating as partners to help the African Nations. We can analyze such situations and bring it to the attentions of those sub-committees in Congress that can help Africa. The time is ripe for such action.
