  Kebba,
This story is just so sad! Its painful that the poor boy couldn't see
his father, neither could the father also see his lovely son during his
lifetime.I am really saddened by this, knowing how "sweet" parental love is.
In view of the latter,i am appealing that you kindly send me a fax
number(on which i can send an authority to the poor boy or his parents to
withdraw some money from an account in Banjul).
Another possible option is;for me to get their phone number in order
to tell them where to go to and get some cash,(which is still intended for
the poor child...)
I wish i could send something from here,to help in transfering the corpse to
the Gambia but there are no possibilties for me to do so right now.
However,the Profet(BPUH) said;"INNA-MAL AH-MAALU BINIYAAT"
(Intentions matter more, prior to actions).

Therefore, please, please, allow me to intervene at the level of Banjul by
using the above-mentioned options.

Apart from the above,i am also ready to help in any possible way(in the
future)in case the child needs assistance now and again.

MY PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCE TO DR.MANNEH,MRS MANNEH(wife of the deceased) AND
THE REST OF THEIR FAMILY.
MAY THE GREAT GATES OF PARADISE BE OPENED FOR HIM!
AMEEN.

NB:IF YOU WISH TO SEND ME THE FAX AND TEL NOS.OF THE DECEASED'S FAMILY IN
BANJUL PRIVATELY, ITS MOST WELCOME.
IF NOT YOU CAN SUGGEST ANOTHER OPTION WHICH COULD BE USED TO GET/OR BE
GETTING SOME MONEY TO THE CHILD.

PLEASE USE THIS E-MAIL ACCOUNT TO SEND ME THE DETAILS I REQUESTED FOR, IE:

A BROTHER.

>It is much regrettable to announce the death of a dear friend and
>brother, MOMODOU M.MANNEH.This sad event took place on
>Monday,July,30th,2001. Momodou was born and raised in Manneh Kunda at
>Salekene in Central Baddibu. He went to Salekene Primary School and later
>Armitage High School. After his high school career, Momodou worked at the
>Income Tax Department for a number of years together with Yajama
>Samba(wife of late Saul Samba) and others. He came to the United States
>in the early 1970s with the help of his oldest cousin Dr.Momodou
>M.S.K.Manneh(former minister of Economic Planning in the Jawara
>Administration).Momodou(the deceased) did his high school at Salisbury
>High School at Salisbury in Connecticut and later moved to Voorhees
>College in South Carolina and subsequently Nashville in Tennessee where
>he lived briefly before he joined his older cousin, Momodou G Manneh in
>Houston, Texas.
>
>Back home in the Gambia, Momodou(the deceased) used to live with his
>oldest sister at Albion Place. He was a member of the then Hellions Youth
>Club, which had as its patron,James Gomez(former mayor of Banjul).
>Momodou, as I write this obituary lays and await decision by the Houston
>Gambian community whether to fly his body to the Gambia to avail his
>familly and loved ones the opportunity to say good-bye or to burry him in
>Houston and therefore deny his familly the opportunity mentioned above.
>The situation is such because the community at Houston cannot pay the
>bill to fly the body to the Gambia. In light of the foregoing, I wish to
>appeal to all Gambians every where to assist the folks at Houston to
>enable them make the right decision by donating what one can afford. This
>donations can be sent to: MOMODOU MANNEH,BANK ACCT#0132423,UNITY NATIONAL
>BANK.2602 BLODGETT,HOUSTON,TX.77004.Momodou is survived by a son (SAUL
>MANNEH) whom he named after the late Saul Samba because of his close
>friendship with Yajama Samba at the time they were both working at the
>Income Tax Department. Unfortunately Momodou has never set eye on his son
>nor has the latter set eye on his father. It should be noted that when
>Saul Manneh was brought into this world, his father,(the deceased) had
>already left the Gambia and was going to school in Connecticut. Folks,
>should we all not come together and help our friends at Houston to fly
>this deceased's body back to the Gambia to atleast avail Saul Manneh the
>only chance to physically see and feel his father and pay his last
>respect to him before he may be laid to rest.
>
>I thank all of you in anticipation for your generous donations. May Allah
>The Almighty reward all of you. AMEN.
