Gambians and friends of The Gambia,
                                                           the movement for Democracy and

Development wish to thank all those who took their time and made it to the

demonstration under the rain and as you may know there was uncertainty about

whether a transit strike would happen in New York City or not. We also thank all

those who couldn't make it but one way or the other contributed to the success of

today's demonstration. The protest started at 10:00 AM in the morning in front of the

Gambia permanent mission to the UN at 800 2ND Avenue between 42ND and 43rd

street. Gambians stormed the area within an hour holding placards with different

slogans about the real character and autocratic behavior of Yahya Jammeh and his

mercenaries judges. Passers by started interviewing the protesters by taking video of

the placards and asking what they can do to bring to an end to the dictatorship in that

small country? Telephone numbers and addresses of officials responsible for

terrorizing and intimidating innocent Gambians were passed.

At 11:30AM, some executivre members of the Organization, Demba Sanyang-the

secretary, Lamin Taal-Youth organizer and Saihou Mballow- Chairman with the escort

Emran saidy journalist from the Free Gambia Radio walked into the Mission building

  to deliver a letter to

the Ambassador and address our concerns to him but unfortunately we some officials

in the office luck up themselves in the office and pretended no one is at work. We

kept knocking the door but to no avail. At the end we used our cell phones to call the

Embassy number # 212-949-6640 after hearing some murmuring inside and someone

talking on the phone eventually they stop receiving calls. We drop a letter and a note

for the Ambassador under the door and hope they would respect the office and give us

a call because the office does not belong to Jammie but Gambia.

We were ready for an appropriate response from any rude official if there were any like

  the one in DC.

At 12: 00PM, we moved to the UN plaza and continued on our displacement of

placards and chanting: We want the rubbish charges against the three

opposition leaders drop immediately; We want justice for the murder of

Deyda Hydara ; we want justice for the murder of our 14 school children; we

want justice for the burning of the Independent newspaper; We want the

justice department to make the report public about Justice paul's corruption

  investigation.

Finally, we delivered a letter to the office of the Secretary General appealing to him to

do something about the human rights violations in The Gambia.

See the letter to the UN and the Mission one. Once again we thank you for every thing.

  Keep up the struggle.
