Since when has an honest self-appraisal deserve a coterie of slurs
such “Bantaba style mudslinging”, and not even speak of “divisive
politics”...? Since when has an ill-organized, ill-disciplined and
rudderless bunch of Gambians in the Diaspora that has never cast a
single ballot in Gambia elections ever represent the will of the 1.5
Million Gambian population..? There are much more hard questions that
may help elucidate Waa’s political insight as reflected on his recent
statements.
I do not support the opposition but I do sincerely admire Waa’s
unwavering conviction to stand for what he passionately beliefs. He
may not be charismatic but sure stands for some principle right or
wrong- a case in point, he found it in himself to denounce the
insidious corruption within UDP under the feverish leadership of
Ousainou Darboe, and in return he got traduced with rebuking silence
from the opposition that is now peddling a hypocritical platform of
fighting corruption in Gambia. Once again he is about to receive the
same sickly moral opprobrium from some hapless cyber-critics because he
happens to speak his mind. If this is not censorship then what
is.....? If the “opposition” cannot play by the rules of democratic
engagement then how in the world can they ever guarantee the rule of
law when they (and God forbid) when the elections come 2006.

Ebou
