Ebrima Sall & Sidibeh,

Not only is the above true, but tapping into this wisdom and encouraging self
expression and participation in debating issues is indeed the foundation that
any worthwhile Democracy can be built on. Unfortunately, we in Africa have
yet to grasp that idea. Cooperation for the greater good of all. Maybe there is
still hope but it gets pretty discouraging sometimes.
I often ponder the fact that we have one of, if not the oldest civilizations
in the World, yet we are still grasping at straws when it comes to the
establishment of good governance. It all boils down to good character so that one is
compelled to do the right thing in all situations.
Here in the U.S also, elections are conducted in much the same way.
Neighbourhood locations like local schools are the voting centers and one casts ones'
vote and goes home to watch the results on television in the evening, although
I must say that after the last presidential elections, some of us are a little
more wary, but i think there is still a lot of kick left in the ordinary
folks who work to safeguard the democratic process around here.
The Euro looks like it is already pretty strong competition for the U.S
dollar.
