JAWARA'S FAMILY UPSET BY OUR EDITORIAL-JALI EBOU JALLOW AND CO EXPOSED!!!

Our recent editorial on Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, is not well received by his family and Jammeh’s gutter online paper the Progressive Africans, or the retrogressive Africans if you like. In the said editorial, we described Jawara’s return to the impoverished West African country as a curse for The Gambia. That Jawara was held hostage by the repressive Jammeh regime, who are hell bent on using him for their own political gains.

EBOU JALLOW HOLDS BRIEF FOR JAWARA. THE FREEDOM NEWSPAPER MANAGEMENT SET THE RECORDS STRAIGHT!!!!
We still stood by our editorial that the old man betrayed his colleagues in the struggle and there was no need for him to answer to Jammeh’s so called blanket amnesty extended to him and his family. We have nothing against Sir Dawda, but we are concerned about his integrity as an elderly states man. After all, Jawara is our grand father, and under African norms and values we are free to spit at him if we feel that he is being dragged into the wrong direction by enemies of freedom.
Our paper’s Managing Editor Pa Nderry M’Bai, was privileged to speak to one of Jawara’s sons who was on a private visit here in the United States. The said Jawara’s son name withheld was concerned about the editorial in question and therefore felt that the old man was not treated right in the said write up.
Mr.M’Bai assured Jawara’s son that his paper harbored no grudges against his father and we as a paper cherished Jawara’s past democratic credentials as a leader. We asked him if he can arraign for an interview with Sir Dawda to clear some of the controversies being associated with him. The gentleman promised to pass our request to his father upon his return to Banjul.
This editorial is meant to clear the air, as the likes of Ebou Jallow and his crew are hiding under the banner of pen name to pick on our paper in a bid to tarnish our unshakable credibility. Ebou and co are free to support Jammeh, but it should not be on the detriment of hard working Gambians. We cares less about how confusionists like Ebou Jallow feel about our editorials. All these people chanting Jammeh’s praises have one way or the other lied against him in the past just to meet their own selfish interest. Little did Ebou knows that he is mortgaging his credibility, we doubt if he have any by associating himself with a regime he Jallow claimed to have persecuted him. Read this crap from Ebou’s Editorial desk..

SIR DAWDA"S RETURN
By SALIFU K.SONKO (UNITED KINGDOM)
Mar 10, 2006, 21:10

Some self-annointed political scientists and pundits case have lately resorted to attacking the personality of former President Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara;thus compelling any good and patriotic Gambian who witnessed Sir Dawda fight colonialism and leading Gambia to Republican status ;objectively refute the filth and dirt levied against this man of utmost decency. Two articles I came across claim Sir Dawda's return to The Gambia is a curse. In brief, the articles went further to state that this is an act of betrayal, opportunistic, a compromise of his reputation and human rights record. What an absurd assumption? What they failed to realise is that when The Gambia was on Fire in 1981 and his family held by Kukoi Sanyang and his Bandits under the poorest of conditions, toture and Gun point at the Field Force Barracks in Bakau,he did not compromise then.He showed his will and liberated Gambia. That act alone, is enough to substantiate the fact that Jawara i! s a man of honour and
integrity.Morover, those who know the story behind our struggle for Independence know Jawara does not compromise.

In addition, the articles chastises Sir Dawda for being on President Jammeh's payroll, compromising his position on the illegality of the 1994 coup, not staying in UK (or in exile) like his colleagues, namely, Saihou Sabally, Bakary Darbo, Sara Janha and others. The most hilarious bit is the assertion that Sir Dawda is now held hostage, he is an adviser to the President and that PPP is one of the most disintegrated political parties in The Gambia. Remember,Bakary Darbo was the first to bail out on Jawara in !994 and Saihou Sabally was the main catalyst for Jawara's fall.

In life, the most unforgiveable crime one can commit is the crime of
misinformation, especially when premised on ignorance. The articles are ill-informed, woefully ignorant and unprofessional. To say that Sir Dawda's return is a betrayal and dancing to President Jammeh's tune is absolutely baseless; this is the best thing that can ever happen in African politics. Accepting the changing circumstances of time and reconciling with the reality is the hallmark of a true and honourable gentleman. We can borrow a leaf from Sheriff Dibba's book of life: He too, accepted reality and joined hands with President Jammeh. And Gambians have seen the win-win situation and chemistry it created. We all know that SM Dibba was also a political heavy weight in Gambian politics.

For those who remain in exile (or exile themselves), we can only hope and pray that they too, will have an opportunity to come back home soon. Although their individual situations differ, we wish them all a happy homecoming. In fact, it is a matter of time only, but, God Willing, all those with good and sincere intent will make the journey back home.

The a! rticles also failed to understand that returning Sir Dawda's properties and creating a remuneration package for him is the kindest thing to do, especially having been the first President of the Republic. This is a gesture of goodwill, and President Jammeh is a man of goodwill. As to Sir Dawda being an adviser! I guess the authors of the articles were too embarrassed to accept that perhaps the two gentlemen were comparing notes. They may have conveniently left out the fact that President Jammeh was at one time responsible for President Jawara's security detail and the two know each other quite well.

Contrary to the uninformed views expressed in the mentioned articles, the PPP had long since been a disintegrated political party, even before the famous July 22nd Takeover. What the article also cleverly ignored, is the positive side: That President Jammeh is the Master of the Game. He has redefined the political landscape and awareness of Gambians. He masterminded a politi! cal dialogue in his own way and succeeded in bringing about reconciliation and a
healthier political climate. His act of grace and his predictions about NADD are all a manifestation of his political skills and wisdom. People of like mind will, no doubt, join his bandwagon, as, they now realise, thankfully, that he is the man.
In a nutshell,Sir Dawda Jawara is back home,a retired Statesman and true Pan Africanist. The best part of it all,he enjoys life atop the beautiful creation of ALLAH, in an atmosphere of solemnity, peace and tranqulity;three words that best describe Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara."ALL YE,GIVE TO ROME WHAT BELONGS TO ROME AND TO CAESAR WHAT BELONGS TO CAESAR."

We still maintains that Jawara’s return to The Gambia was a political suicide. He has no reasons whatsoever to justify his return when the likes of Saikou Sabally, BB Darboe, Sara Jangha and others are struggling to survive while in exile. While we awaits Jawara’s response to our interview request, we want to assure Mr.Jawara and his family that this paper is not in the business of smearing people’s image. We report the truth and nothing but the truth. Our editorial position on issues remains the same and nothing can make us abandon our stance on burning issues of the day. We rest our case.
