Saul,
I certainly wish President Jammeh had made it to New York this time. It is so
unfortunate that he could not. I think you are right. We as Gambians should
work on making the political reality be towards national development. It
should not matter who is in power or who is to be in power as long as we are
all engaged in the discourse positively.
This is why, I think had the President visited this time, we as Gambians can
meet him and discuss without demonstrations calling of names. As his last
visit was not very cordial, and to my surprise, most of those who organized
those demonstarations are party militants of some of the oposition parties.
Don't you think they had some other motives? I certainly think they do. We
are not achieving a lot from that as a nation. There is a lot we could do
together despite our differences in political views resulting to positive
developments. President Jammeh knows that the country is not his a loneand
cannot develop it a lone. so I am sure he will not mind positive discussions
that will lead to a better Gambia. I am sure he will not compromise national
developments for personal gains, and this is what some of us are up to.
I said it here before, any genuine Gambian including the opposition leaders
should be able to endorse anyone who wins a fair elections and we all forge
ahead with national development. The country needs all her people and we will
be a better nation with all our people too.

Ousman Jallow Bojang.
