The Gambian
people,the international community and all democratic and Human Rights
Organisations worldwide are hereby being informed of the continous and
persistent harrassment,suppression and,oppression,by the pseudo democratic
Government of The Gambia,of members of the United Democratic party ,an
organisation that represents the verws of several thousand Gambians.
The APRC Governmemt which is a carbon copy of the AFPRC military Junta has
now revealed itself as the most tyrannical dictatorship by disregarding The
Gambian costitution which guaranteed Gambia citizens the right to freedom of
speech,freedom of assembly and freedom of movement.The objective of the APRC
regime is therefore to cling on to power at all cost,plunder the country's
resources without being challenged by any element and force opposition to
melt into inaction.
Barely four days today,the opposition UDP leader Mr.Ousainou Darboe his
deputy Mr.Yaya Jallow and all the party supporters during the tour are
detained at the Basse police station and charged for the murder of a
Government thug Alieu Njie who amoung some elements of the Government
sponsored by the president Yahya Jammeh attacked the opposition.These thugs
were lead during the attack by Lybian trained terrorist Baba Jobe who in
many occations had lead the same terror on inocent opponents of the
Government.
The UDP has reatedly indicated to democratic and peace loving nations and
organisations of the world that the situation in the country depicts a rapid
slide into a state of chaos and anarchy and that unless the Aprc respects
human rights and uphold the rule of law the inevitable is bound to occur.
The opposition UDP will not allow itself to be muzzled and will not
negotiaate its Rights and the Rights of its members in the legitimate
exercise of our political and constitutional Rights.
I once again appeal to all to all those who believe in justice,peace and
freedom to come together and condemn and denounce the nefarious undemocratic
and illegal actions of this corrupt APRC Government and to continue exerting
maximum preesure on the present dictatorship so as to ensure the restoration
of democracy and the safety of all the detainees.
